High Praise for Steel City Duo
Great review of our Roots Music Club gig (20/01/2017) in Doncaster Free Press by Paula Moore. Photo by Stephen Connor.
Here are some highlights…
Liam Short’s and James Knight’s harmonies blend impeccably and beautifully throughout their songs. They exude a quiet confidence as well as an unabashed humility as they engage with each other and the audience.
Accompanying themselves on guitar, cajon and percussion, their flawless performance drew me into a joyful musical escape.
Their lifelong friendship is evident through their musical connection and gentle banter. Their feel good rapport is the perfect tonic for the hardships of life.
The dynamic duo ended their set with 2 original songs, the highlights of the evening. The rhythmic “What I Want” showcases Absent Average’s clean vocals. They deliver with their 18 year old energy as well as an “old soul” kind of passion. “Swings and Roundabouts” ebbs and flows with a mature musicality, flawless diction and their signature harmonies.
I can’t wait to hear more from Absent Average who are anything but average. catch them if you can.
